3) Applying for the Academic Foundation Programme
Interested in a career in academic medicine? Want to know more about applying for the Academic Foundation Programme (AFP)?
BL Academic Research Society (BARS) would like to welcome you all to our third talk of the 2015-2016 academic year. Dr Milo Kostusiak (AFY1 at QEHKL), Dr Nithish Jayakumar (AFY1 at Homerton Hospital) and Dr Daniel Poon (SHO at Guy's Hospital) will be speaking about their experiences of applying for the AFP and their motivations behind pursuing a career in academic medicine, as well as giving some tips and advice for the application process.
The Academic Foundation Programme provides an opportunity for foundation doctors to develop research, teaching and/or leadership and management skills in addition to the competencies outlined in the Foundation Programme Curriculum. It is aimed at all those interested in these areas and gives you dedicated time that is set aside to explore your interests and focus on academic work.
