Doctors of the World UK are a charity that provides healthcare, information and practical support to vulnerable people including refugees and asylum seekers.
We are looking for people (you!) to volunteer with Doctors of The World through STAR.
Details of the role are below. It is perfect for medical and dental students looking to make a difference to the community, to enhance their own communication skills and get some experience of how healthcare can be provided to those facing barriers to healthcare access.
A workshop will be run to give a brief about the role, applying for the role, and the benefits of volunteering both to you and service users, as well as delivery of a teaching resource has developed by a 5th year medical student on Medical Peace Work on Immigration, Detention and Torture. Date TBC.

Role: Clinic Support Worker
Clinic Support Workers are the main point of contact for service users. They carry out interviews to determine needs and provide advice and support. They also act as an advocate and liaise with NHS service providers to link the service users to care.
Who can apply:
This role does not require clinical experience but would suit someone who has experience/strong interest in helping vulnerable groups. That includes all medical and dental students! DOTW are looking especially for people who speak Bengali, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Arabic or Portuguese but it is not a requirement and they really need volunteers.
Where: Bethnal Green Clinic, Praxis, Pott Street, London, E2 0EF
When: Clinics run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons
Commitment: Minimum of 2 afternoons a month for 6 months
Recruitment Window: December 1st 2015 - January 4th 2016
