Health Education England are running a survey on widening participation for medical schools as part of a project to run work experience tasters.
The project is focusing on expanding access to work-related experiences, particularly for those in the state sector and from disadvantaged backgrounds due to structural difficulties they can face in accessing work experiences.
Working in collaboration with the University of Manchester, the research project aims to increase the access to work experience for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds through a national programme of work tasters. Work tasters would offer state pupils a short experience of 1-3 days at NHS workplaces.
Medical student feedback would be invaluable in setting this up, so if it is at all possible to forward the following link to medical students then it would be hugely appreciated. The survey takes five to complete.
The aim is to know whether medical students think it would be a good idea and what impact it, and similar, activities might have on the career prospects of young people. Responses are required by the end of today.
