My name is Suleman Patel and I am currently a student on the iBSc Medical Education course. Part of the course is a research project and for this I am undertaking a survey around “Attitudes to Professionalism and Academic Integrity among Medical Students”. The aim of this study is to understand the current views and attitudes of students towards professional behaviour at medical school.
I am hoping to collect information from medical and dental and intercalating students in all years at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. I have compiled a BOS Survey which links questions from two existing surveys: The Dundee Polyprofessionalism Survey I: Academic Integrity (30 questions) and the GMC survey on student professionalism (12 questions).
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
The questions present examples of lapses in professional behaviour and you are asked to recommend a sanction for a first time offence with no mitigating circumstances from a list of possible sanctions.
Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and you can decline to take part and choose to withdraw at any point. I hope you will all participate and complete the questionnaire as it will provide a useful benchmark for the school to reflect on student professional values.
The survey can be accessed via this link:
All responses to this survey will remain completelyanonymous and so honesty would be appreciated. The results will be published in a way that will never identify individual responses.
Please complete the survey before Friday 15th April.
If you have any questions regarding the study or the questionnaire, please feel free to contact me firstname.lastname@example.org.
