HealthWatch student prize for critical appraisal of clinical research protocols.
How good are your research skills?
The HealthWatch student prize competition is now open to students of medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery and professions allied to medicine. There are two first prizes of £500, one for medical and dental students and one for students of nursing, midwifery and professions allied to medicine. There will be up to 5 runner-up prizes of £100 in each class.
The competition consists of four hypothetical clinical research protocols; you have to rank them in the order in which they are likely to meet their stated aims, then in up to a maximum of 600 words explain why you have given this ranking, and point out any flaws in the protocols.
Download the entry form and protocols from www.healthwatch-uk.org/awards/student-prize.html
The closing date is June 30th, and the results will be announced in September.
HealthWatch is an independent charity, for science and integrity in medicine. The competition is sponsored by Cambridge University Press.
