What are we?
SAMDA is a student led society founded in 2000 by Dr. Abdul Kamali whilst he was a medical student at Barts and The London.
We provide much needed support and advice to year 12 and 13 students from East London with their UCAS Medical/Dental applications.
SAMDA is not affiliated to any political or religious cause. It is a non-profit, student run initiative. We aim to promote all Medical and Dental Schools without preference.
How can you help?
Teams of Medical/Dental students from BL are asked to make 3-5 visits to a particular school in the East London area. Here they can discuss a career in Medicine/Dentistry, and in later visits, aid the students with personal statements and interviews.
**STUDENT-LED MOCK INTERVIEWS
Following submission of UCAS applications, we hold mock interviews for the sixth-form students, led by BL students themselves. It's a real chance to see how much your students have gained from you!
**CLINICIAN-LED MOCK INTERVIEWS
Some weeks later, the sixth form students are given the opportunity to have an interview with a panel of clinicians and BL students. This is a fantastic opportunity to see your favourite lecturer up close and personal!
As well as this we also hold other events for the sixth form students, such as clinicians evenings and medical taster days.
Why should you join?
SAMDA is an incredible opportunity to give back to society and make a mark on someone's life, all the while having some brilliant experiences. What more could you want?
