We are one of the biggest and friendliest sports clubs at Barts and have a range of teams that play in various leagues (BUCS, LUSL, QM Sports and Community Leagues) allowing us to cater for all abilities. Whether you have never played netball before or are already a pro, come along and have fun as well as keeping fit!
We are one of the most sociable clubs at Barts with events every Wednesday so even if you don’t want to play you can still be involved with a social membership and make friends for life!
BL Netball had another great season last year!! Our 1st team are continuing to smash the premiership league in LUSL and maintaining their position in a top BUCS league too. Our 2nd team had a great season playing in two competitive leagues in both BUCS and LUSL. As well as our 3rd and 4th teams topping both of their respective BUCS and LUSL leagues, an amazing achievement! Our 5th and 6th teams have both had a cracking season with both teams playing in the QMSU League and the 5s playing in LUSL too.
For the second year in a row, we organised a charity ball in collaboration with RAG, with last years ball, A Night in Paris, raising over £1,197 for Street Doctors, the Barts Guild and Rape Crisis! This achievement won us the RAG Event of the Year award for the second year in a row, and we're excited for another fun and successful ball next year!
This year has started off amazingly and we are proud to say that our netball family has stretched to include over a hundred girls and we've created a new 7th team (The Griffins) for girls who are new to netball and want to play casually!
We have also introduced a new initiative this year where are girls go into secondary schools and coach netball to the kids while promoting a healthy and active lifestyle!
Whoever you are, and whatever you want to gain from your club you will find it as a member of BL Netball!
We will hold several trial sessions:
Wednesday 26th September 2-4pm at Mile End Courts
Thursday 27th September 6-8.45pm at St Pauls Way Trust School, E3 4FT
Some of our girls will be waiting at Mile End station at 1.40pm to walk you over to the courts!
Everyone is welcome regardless of if you have played before; so come along and give it a try it! You will need to bring sports clothing, trainers, water and most importantly enthusiasm! The captains will move players in and out of different positions until we find the place that’s right for you. After the trials, we will have the final squads and the captains will contact you. After this all you need to do is pay your subs and join our Facebook page to make sure you don’t miss out on anything!
Thursdays 6-8.45pm at St Pauls Way Trust School, Bow, E3 4FT
Commitment levels required: We expect everyone to turn up to all training sessions and attend all matches. We understand that this might not always be possible but captains must be informed of any absences.
